3 Ways to Discover New Music

There are a number of resources on the internet that could be used to discover new tracks in electronic and related genres of music. Many people are aware of the large sites such as Pandora and GrooveShark that stream music. However, there are a few lesser known sites that may be useful in expanding your library.

TuneGlue

This program has a pretty interesting interface and works as a "relationship explorer" between the music you know and like and other related artists. You start by typing in an artist that you are interested in, such as "deadmau5". You then expand from that original source to show related artists; in this case, Skrillex, Kill The Noise, BSOD, and others appeared. Type in an artist of your choice and see what the results are.

Musicovery

Musicovery is a site that features an interactive and customized web radio service where listeners can rate songs and hear personalized programming. This can be done by genre or even mood/feeling, to discover new artists you may have otherwise never found. This particular site is also compatible with some mobile phones and iPod devices.

Womp

Womp is a music discovery service that deals specifically with electronic music. It is still in its early stages, but the developers expect to launch their alpha-stage release at the end of March or early in April. They “crowd source” content from SoundCloud, YouTube and from raw uploads, which allows them to offer the latest and most popular tracks for free. Keep an eye on this service in the near future.
